Quetta(May 30, 2018): A resolution on Wednesday seeking to conduct general elections 2018 a month delay in August instead of July 25 has been submitted in Secretrait of Balochistan Assembly.
The resolution was submitted by Provincial Minister Sarfraz Bugti in the assembly secretariat.The resolution stated that the some of the people will be in Saudi Arabia for Hajj while some will also migrate to the safe places due to monsoon. These two reasons will surely affect voting percentage, it added.
The resolution will be tabled for debate in today’s session.
It may be recalled that on May 26, President Mamnoon Hussain approved a summary sent by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the general elections, to be held on July 25.

The polling for the national and provincial assemblies will be held on the same day.
The Election Commission had proposed July 25, 26 and 27 for the elections.
Under Section 57 (1) of the Elections Act, 2017, the president holds the authority to announce the date for elections in consultation with the ECP.The five-year constitutional term of the National Assembly and the Punjab Assembly will end on May 31.
According to clause 224 of the Constitution, elections for the national and provincial assemblies are to be held within 60 days following the day the term of the assemblies expires.
