Retired commodore Jawad Akhtar steps down as technical advisor to maritime ministry

ISLAMABAD: The federal government released official notifications on Thursday concerning a series of resignations, retirements, postings, and transfers affecting civil and police personnel.

According to the Establishment Division, Commodore (Retd) Muhammad Jawad Akhtar, who was serving as the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, has tendered his resignation, which has received approval from the prime minister.

In addition, the division announced the retirement of several Grade 18 officers from the Police Service of Pakistan. Among them are SP Arif Rana, who retired effective November 24, 2025; SP Mushtaq Ahmed Abbasi, who concluded his service on November 30, 2025; and SP Fida Hussain Solangi, who retired on August 24, 2025. All three officers were serving under the Sindh government at the time of their retirement.

Another Grade 18 officer, Fida Hussain, previously posted in Punjab, has been officially retired as of October 4, 2025. Additionally, Muhammad Asif, an officer from the Office Management Group serving as OSD Grade 18, has also been notified for retirement.

Regarding new postings, responsibilities have been assigned to the Board of Investment, while Yasir Ali, who was awaiting his appointment, has been designated as Section Officer in the Economic Affairs Division.

The Establishment Division has issued formal notifications for all these personnel decisions, with immediate effect.
