Roof collapse at DG Khan school leaves 4 students dead, several injured

D.G.KHAN: A tragic incident in Dera Ghazi Khan has claimed the lives of four schoolchildren after the roof of a classroom gave way, while several others sustained injuries, according to rescue officials.

The collapse occurred at a private school located between Blocks V and W of the city, prompting an immediate emergency response. Rescue teams reached the site shortly after the incident and launched a full-scale operation to retrieve those trapped under the debris.

Authorities confirmed that four students were pulled out dead from the rubble. A teacher along with eight injured pupils were rescued alive and shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

Emergency services deployed multiple units to speed up the rescue work, including ambulances, fire tenders, rescue trucks, and motorcycle response teams. Efforts continued for hours as teams searched for any remaining individuals possibly trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

Police and district administration officials also arrived at the scene to oversee the ongoing operation, which was led by District Emergency Officer Engineer Ahmed Kamal.

Preliminary assessments from rescue personnel suggest that the roof may have collapsed due to excessive load, though a formal investigation is expected to determine the exact cause of the incident.
