Rs10bn offer: Defamation suit to be filed against Imran if he did not reveal massenger’s name: Punjab govt

LAHORE: A spokesman of Punjab government on Friday while rejecting Imran Khan’s claim that he was offered Rs10 billion by Sharif brothers through a common friend of Shahbaz Sharif for not pursuing Panama Leaks announced that defamation suit will be filed against Imran Khan if he did not reveal the name of the messenger.

Addressing a press conference, Punjab government spokesperson Malik Ahmed Khan said that Imran Khan must reveal the name of the massager, who reportedly conveyed the alleged offer from Sharif brothers to Imran Khan. He added that PTI chief leveled a baseless allegation against the Chief Minister, demanding that he should reveal the name as to who conveyed him the Rs10 billion offer.

He questioned that as to why the PTI chief remained silent for one year over the issue. He announced that the chief minister would file defamation suit against PTI chief if he did not reveal the name.

The spokesman said that it was clear the PTI chief was lying regrading the Rs10 billion offer. He averred that the announcement to file defamation suit will not be a political one rather the PTI chief would be dragged to the court and his lie would be exposed.

Regarding PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s address in Malakand Agency, the spokesman said that the PPP co-chairman attempted to create provincialism and regional hatred. He added perhaps Zardari sahib did not have proper knowledge of power projects being built under CPEC. He added that the total electricity produced through the projects built under CPEC would be added to national grid.

To a question the spokesman said that Maryam Nawaz’s tweet was before everyone regarding Jindal meeting with the Prime Minister, adding that the meeting was private.
