Russia, China veto Bahrain’s resolution to open the Strait of Hormuz in the UN security council

WEB DESK: Russia and China have vetoed Bahrain’s proposed resolution to open the Strait of Hormuz at the United Nations Security Council.

According to Arab media, the Security Council held a session to vote on Bahrain’s resolution aimed at reopening the strategic waterway.

The resolution received 11 votes in favor, while Russia and China used their veto powers to block it. Two other member states chose not to participate in the voting.

Reports indicate that if the resolution had been adopted, member countries would have been authorized to take necessary actions to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The move is seen as significant for regional stability and international maritime trade.
