ISLAMABAD: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has took notice of the Sheikhupura train accident and ordered probe into the collision.
He confirmed that train diver among two people succumbed to their injuries. The Railway Minister expressed great grief over the accident and said, “The accident happened because of the oil tanker driver`s hurriedness.” He added, “We have dispatched a relief train from Lahore.” He said all the passengers of Shalimar Express will be sent to their destinations by a substitute train.
At least two people were killed and 10 others were injured as Karachi-bound passenger train, Shalimar Express collided with an oil tanker in Sheikhupura. The passenger train was heading to Karachi from Lahore when it collided with a loaded oil tanker at Nabi Pura railway crossing. Eight coaches and engine of the train caught fire after the accident.
