LAHORE: Pakistan’s opener Saim Ayub has regained the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20I All-Rounder Rankings, as revealed on Wednesday.
Ayub earned his well-deserved spot in the rankings following standout performances during Pakistan’s dominant 3-0 series victory over Australia on home turf.
At just 23 years old, Ayub has seamlessly taken on the opening role previously occupied by Zimbabwe’s experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza.
This accomplishment serves as a major confidence booster for both Ayub and the Pakistani team as they prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, now only days away.
Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed also made waves, climbing two places to reach second position among T20I bowlers. He now sits just 28 rating points shy of India’s Varun Chakravarthy, who continues to hold the top rank. Ahmed’s impressive rise is credited to a remarkable six-wicket haul across the three-match series against Australia.
Meanwhile, fellow spinner Mohammad Nawaz showcased his brilliance, jumping eight spots to claim seventh position in the T20I bowler rankings following a five-wicket display in the series finale. Nawaz also rose one spot to secure the fourth position in the T20I all-rounder rankings, reflecting his invaluable contributions with both bat and ball.
Pakistan’s batting lineup also gained ground in the rankings. Ayub moved up eight spots to tie for 27th place, while captain Salman Ali Agha experienced a surge, climbing twelve positions to claim 29th overall.
