Saudi Airline Resumes Flights to Iran After 10 Years

RIYADH: After a decade-long hiatus, a Saudi airline has resumed flight operations to Iran, marking a significant development in Saudi-Iran relations.A Flynas aircraft from Saudi Arabia landed at Tehran Airport last night to transport pilgrims.

According to Saudi civil aviation authorities, the airline’s flights to Iran have been reinstated as part of the 2025 Hajj operations. Flynas will also operate Hajj flights from the Iranian city of Mashhad.

The Saudi airline is expected to facilitate travel for 37,000 Iranian pilgrims by July 1.

It is worth noting that diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia were restored in March 2023 through Chinese mediation. The ties had been severed in 2016 following an attack on the Saudi embassy in Iran.
