Saudi Cabinet reviews security situation, affirms right to counter Iranian aggression

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday underscored the Kingdom’s right to respond decisively to what it described as Iranian aggression following recent “cowardly attacks,” Arab media reported.

The meeting, chaired virtually by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, focused heavily on the fast-changing regional landscape and its broader implications for global peace and stability.

According to the official statement, ministers conducted a comprehensive review of current developments across the region and stressed that Saudi Arabia retains the sovereign right to take necessary measures to protect its security and national interests.

Beyond defense matters, the Cabinet also examined efforts aimed at supporting Gulf citizens who were stranded at Saudi airports due to recent disruptions. Authorities highlighted steps taken to provide accommodation, logistical assistance, and other essential services to ensure their well-being.

In a separate development, the Cabinet approved new memorandums of understanding between the Kingdom’s anti-corruption authority and Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau. The agreements are intended to enhance cooperation in preventing corruption, sharing expertise, and strengthening oversight mechanisms between the two countries.

Saudi officials reiterated that while the Kingdom remains committed to regional stability and international cooperation, it stands prepared to act firmly in defense of its sovereignty and security.
