Islamabad: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) amendment bill 2022 approved on Friday (today) from the Upper House of the parliament after its approval from the National Assembly.
The government got 43 votes against the opposition 42 votes while the opposition protested strongly over the passage of the bill in the Senate.
Awami National Party (ANP) Senator Umar Farooq Kassi left the session at the time of voting while Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani voted in the favour of presenting the bill in the session while Dilawar Khan voted in favour of the government.
The opposition leader in the house and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Yousuf Raza Gillani was absent at the time of the voting.
Another member of senate, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed was not attended the session as he contracted to the coronavirus.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani adjourned the session till Monday after the session approved the SBP bill.
