Islamabad (March 07, 2018): The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday issued contempt of court notice to the former PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi. 

The judge Justice Ejazul Hssan said to Hashmi that he had made it a practice of criticizing the higher judiciary. “When you criticized earlier, it was said that you were fasting,” he remarked.

The PML-N leader expressed regret over the words used by him and said that he was in stress when he used these words.

The apex court judge later issued contempt notice to the PML-N leader.

Former PML-N Senator Nehal Hashmi on Wednesday appeared before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the contempt of court proceedings against him.The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Leader Nehal Hashmi who was stripped of his Senate seat over contempt of court from the apex court was once again summoned by the Supreme Court of Pakistan over his remarks after being released from the prison today.

The chief justice of Pakistan on Tuesday saw the video of Hashmi in his courtroom in which he had criticized the judiciary when he was released from the prison after serving one-month jail term over contempt case.

The chief justice remarked as to why not the jail term of the disqualified senator be increased over such remarks.

The court also rejected Hashmi’s intra-court plea to listen his case in a larger bench.
