Islamabad: The Supreme Court on Tuesday called former deputy speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri in personal capacity while an inquiry report on Suri disqualification case also sought from the registrar of the SC.
Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa along with other two judges heard the election complaint case.
The CJ asked ex-NA speaker why his case has not been decided since 2019. The CJ remarked that Suri enjoyed whole his tenure by taking prohibition order. While now he was saying that the case is no more effective as the tenure of the assembly ended.
The CJ asked did you use any tactics to not fixing the case in the SC?
Honourable CJ said that those hand who barged into the SC to which case has to fixed and which not, we will be going to end all this things.
The top court has ordered Qasim Suri to submit his reply by writing having his signature on it.
The SC also issued notice to the SC registrar over not fixing Suri case and retaining his stay. The court has ordered the registrar office to submit the inquiry report within two weeks time.
The top court also issued notice to rival candidate Lashkar Raisani.
The SC adjourned the hearing for one month.
It is pertinent to mention here that over the rigging in the elections during 2018 on NA 265 re-polling had been ordered.
On the election complaint, an election tribunal had ordered re-elections in the constituency. Against this Qasim Suri had approached the SC while the SC had been given stay on the order of the election tribunal
