SC grants access to journalists with PID, press club cards

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has announced that journalists holding valid Press Information Department (PID) or Press Club identification cards will now be allowed entry into the court complex during specific hours.

An official statement clarified that accredited journalists can access the Supreme Court premises from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This decision represents a notable shift in the court’s approach to media access.

In the past, entry was generally limited to select beat reporters assigned to judicial coverage. The new policy is intended to expand media presence and enable more comprehensive reporting on court proceedings.

According to the Supreme Court, this revised arrangement aims to promote transparency and facilitate journalists in fulfilling their professional responsibilities. All journalists with valid PID or Press Club credentials will be permitted entry during the designated hours, following security protocols and regulations.
