Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has issued a written order of verdict on suo moto notice over delay in provincial elections in Punjab and KP.
As per the order holding of elections after dissolution of assemblies within stipulated time is necessary while elections date are given by President and governor.
According to the order, the ECP ensures holding of elections on given date. while election date given by the President for Punjab is right.

The order added that the authority of giving date in KP lies on governor while President order of February 20 regarding Punjab is constitutional.
On the other hand, the President order of February 20 regarding KP is unconstitutional adding that governor deviated fron constitutional duty regarding election in KP.

The ECP and President after holding consultations give date of elections in Punjab while governor KP announce the election day after conducting consultation with the ECP.
The order said that the ECP, governors should fulfil constitutional duties amicably.
