Lahore (July 12, 2018): The Supreme Court Lahore Registry on Thursday nullified the decision of election tribunal which ordered re-election in Lahore’s NA-125.
A two-member bench of apex court while accepting the petition of Khawaja Saad Rafique ruled that irregularities did not occur in the constituency during general elections 2013.

Rafique had challenged the verdict of election tribunal’s judge Javed Rasheed Mehboobi who had annulled results of the NA-125 election and ordered a re-poll on the seat won by him. 
The former Railways Minister had secured 123,416 votes whereas his contender Hamid Khan had obtained 84,495 votes from NA-125 constituency.
Saad Rafique’s victory was challenged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Hamid Khan, alleging that the PML-N candidate had rigged the elections, and a large number of bogus votes were cast in his favour.
He had requested the tribunal to declare the election null and void and announce re-election in the constituency.
Earlier on March 19, Supreme Court reserved the verdict in rigging case in PML-N’s Khawaja Saad Rafique’s constituency NA-125, which he won against PTI candidate Hamid Khan.
The counsel of Hamid Khan during the hearing before three-member bench headed by Sheikh Azmat Saeed told that the staff of the NA-125 was changed a day earlier of polling, which was the violation of election rules.

Lawyer told the apex court that the form-14 were not filled with legal way, on which sheikh Azmat remarked, “You don’t want to see judgment before next election.
Judge told him that the SC bench will not available after the day and it can be delayed if you did not sum up your arguments.
However, the counsel of both sides completed the arguments, on which judge remarked that the verdict is being reserved on Khawaja Saad Rafique request and it will be delivered on appropriate time.
