SC rejects unconditional apology of Syed Mustafa Kamal

Islamabad: Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday rejected apalogy from Syed Mustafa Kamal, the leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) in the contempt of the court case.

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isal heard the contempt of the court cases against the MQM-P leader Syed Mustafa Kamal and senator Faisal Vawda.

Chief Justice of the top court remarked that the apology can be given in the murder case in the Islam but confession is must.

The CJ questioned that did Syed Mustafa Kamal and Faisal Vawda conduct any other press conference to show their repentance?

Justice Qazi Faez Isa said that if anyone wanted to criticise then come face to face.

The SC alo issued notices to news channels for running the press conferences of Syed Mustafa Kamal and Faisla Vawda.

Counsel of Syed Mustafa Kamal, Farogh Naseem apprised the court that his client has sought unconditional apology from the court.

He has also said that the press conference of Syed Mustafa Kamal is not a contempt of the court.

To which CJ said “Syed Mustafa Kamal is seeking apology and also saying not conducting the contempt of the court.”

The CJ questioned that did Syed Mustafa Kamal impressed by Faisal Vawda hold the press conference?

He said that the judiciary is discussed in the parliament then we think that it is a constitutional institution.

A constitutional institution is attacked on the other constitutional institution, the CJ said.

The nation wants such a parliament and judiciary which have respect in the eyes of the people.
