ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has removed Additional Judicial Registrar Nazar Abbas from his position.
According to a statement issued by the Supreme Court, Nazar Abbas made a serious mistake. The statement further mentioned that the Registrar of the Supreme Court has been directed to look into the matter.
The statement explained that the Additional Judicial Registrar mistakenly fixed a case of the Constitutional Bench before the Regular Bench, resulting in confusion for both the Supreme Court and the parties involved.
The statement added that today, Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Aqeel Abbasi heard a contempt of court proceeding against the Additional Judicial Registrar. Due to the illness leave of the Registrar, the Registrar of the Supreme Court appeared in court.
The statement also noted that the Registrar assured the court that there was no malice involved in delisting cases from the honorable bench, and that the action taken by the Additional Judicial Registrar was in line with the orders of the Regular Bench Committee.
It is important to note that a two-member bench, headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, heard a contempt of court case regarding the failure to fix cases before the appropriate benches. The court inquired from the Registrar of the Supreme Court as to why the case was not fixed despite the judicial order.
