SC sought report on the illegal constructions in Margalla Hills

Islamabad: Supreme Court sought the report from CDA for Illegal Constructions on Margalla Hills.

The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court heard the case of illegal construction on Margalla Hills during which the CDA lawyer and DG Environment appeared before the court. 

On this occasion, the lawyer of Monal Restaurant said that our restaurant was demolished on the order of the Supreme Court Constitution Bench, but there are still around 134 hotels, restaurants and kiosks in Margalla Hills. Yes, there all kinds of constructions have been declared illegal. 

Justice Mazhar asked how many illegal constructions are currently established in Margalla Hills? On this, Vakil Municipal Corporation said that 80 to 132 constructions are left on Margalla Hills while Islamabad Club also comes in Margalla Hills National Park. 

On this occasion, Justice Naeem said that in the master plan of 1960, the Supreme Court was also built within the boundaries of Margalla National Park, the CDA should first look into the illegal constructions around Monal.

Justice Jamal Mandukhel asked whether the decision of the Supreme Court was only for Monal? The court has set the rules regarding the construction in Margalla Hills, why does CDA not do its job? Justice Musarat said that why CDA is violating court orders?

The DG Environment told the court that more than 50 booths are currently running in Margalla Hills which are causing environmental problems in Margalla Hills, the court orders restrained the demolition of the booths.

Later, the Constitution Bench sought a report from the CDA on the illegal constructions in Margalla Hills.
