Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan suspended the verdict of Lahore High Court and ordered Election Commission to issue election schedule

The Supreme Court suspended the verdict of the Lahore High Court regarding the returning officers and district returning officers and ordered the Election Commission to issue the election schedule today while the court issued a notice to the petitioner Umair Niazi belonging to Tehreek-e-Insaf.

After Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faiz Isa and senior judges met with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, an appeal was filed against the verdict of the Lahore High Court by the Election Commission.

The Election Commission challenged the verdict of the Lahore High Court in the Supreme Court, in which it was requested to annul the decision of the Lahore High Court and said that the Supreme Court should implement the decision to hold the elections on February 8.

A 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, heard the case while the proceedings were telecasted live.
