Islamabad (March 07, 2018): The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took notice of the failure to extend the tenure of Accountability Court-I Judge Mohammad Bashir, who is hearing the corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Taking notice, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar summoned the law secretary to explain what the government is doing about the matter as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has requested the law ministry for an extension in the judge’s tenure.

The chief justice observed that they will hear the case after a short recess.
A letter was written by the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Justice Anwer Kasi to the law department to extend the job tenure of the incumbent NAB court judge.

Muhammad Bashir is set to retire on March 12.
Bashir is conducting a hearing into the cases of NAB references in Al Azizia Mills, Avenfield and Flagship Investments against Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz andCapt retd Safdar.
