ISLAMABAD: Polling is underway for the annual elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association, A total of 17 candidates are contesting 5 seats.
Voting began at 8 am and will continue until 5:00 pm. In Lahore, the voting began with a delay of 15 minutes.
A total of 4,221 voters are eligible to cast their ballots, with the largest number (1,414) residing in Lahore. Seventeen candidates are contesting for five positions.
The race for President is between Mian Muhammad Rauf Atta and Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar. The Secretary position is being contested by Salman Mansoor and Malik Zahid Aslam. For the Vice President (Punjab) seat, Rana Bakhtiar and Rana Ghulam Sarwar are vying for the position.
The Additional Secretary position sees Muhammad Aurangzeb and Raja Zabeer Hussain competing, while the Finance Secretary race is between Aurangzeb Mir and Chaudhry Tanveer.
The election is highly contested, with keen interest among the bar’s members.
