KARACHI: A school van was engulfed in flames in the Nazimabad area of Karachi on Monday, resulting in burn injuries to six children.
Initial reports indicate that the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the vehicle suddenly burst into flames, likely due to overheating and an electrical short circuit. Rescue teams responded promptly, with three injured children transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the other three taken to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.
Eyewitnesses stated that residents nearby rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire before it could spread further. Authorities confirmed that the entire van was destroyed in the blaze, with two children in critical condition. An investigation has been initiated to identify the precise cause of the fire.
This incident follows a previous event in Karachi’s Orangi Town, where a school van caught fire, causing burns to at least 14 children. Some of the injured children from that incident were treated at local hospitals, while those with severe burns were admitted to the burns ward at Civil Hospital.
