Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) 23rd heads of states summit is providing a vital opportunity to increase regional cooperation, the PM said.
In his inaugural speech at the convention center Islamabad, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said holding of the SCO summit in Pakistan is an honour for our country.
The premier said that the SCO countries are 40 percent of the world population while for durable development there is need of regional cooperation and promotion of relations.
Shahbaz Sharif said that we have to provide better standard of living and facilitation to our people.
We have to move forward for economic progress, stability and prosperity while ” I have believe that the result of the fruitful discussion in the summit will be beneficial for the people of region for years to come, the PM said.
The PM said that we are facing change at the world front and evolution while the existing situation demands collective measures.
We have to go ahead by using our collective wisdom adding that there is a need of consentration on toursim relations and green development, the PM adds.
Shahbaz Sharif said that efforts are necessary for an increase in the business relation ship while the SCO countries will have to consider a new strategy for the economic cooperation.
On Afghanistan, Prime Minister said that Afghanistan is an important country regarding regional development ans stability.
He urged the world community to concentrate providing aid to Afghanistan on the human ground.
He said that we must have to stop use of Afghanistan soil for terrorism.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Belt and Road is a highly vital project for the regional development while Pakistan is entering in second phase of economic corridor.
He said that an economic stability is our need for the joint future.
On poverty, Prime Minister said that we have to prirotize measures for elimination of the poverty from the region.
He said that poverty is not only a economic problem but moral issue as well.
We have to concentrate to address fundamental reasons behind the poverty which is a responsibility of world leaders for giving better future to generations to come.
Dangers owing to climate change is an important challenge, he said.
