Secretary Supreme Court Bar challenged the 26th constitutional amendment

Islamabad: Secretary Supreme Court Bar Salman Mansoor has challenged 26th constitutional amendment.

In the petition of the Secretary Supreme Court Bar, it has been requested to declare the 26th constitutional amendment null and void.

In the petition submitted to the Supreme Court, the increase in the number of judges and the amendment of the Practice and Procedure Law have also been requested to be annulled.

The petition contends that the constitutional amendment is in direct conflict with the principles of fundamental rights and independence of the judiciary, in the Judicial Commission. The majority of the Executive is interference in the affairs of the Judiciary.

Secretary Supreme Court Bar says that the procedure adopted for the 26th constitutional amendment was not democratic at all, with several MPs alleging pressure and kidnapping.

In the petition, it has been requested that the Judicial Commissioner should be stopped from appointing judges, the appointments made under the constitutional amendment and all the steps should also be annulled.
