MURREE: Authorities have declared Section 144 in Murree from August 10 to August 16 to enhance security and manage traffic ahead of Independence Day festivities.
Murree District Police Officer (DPO) Raza Tanveer Sipra issued a video statement, explaining that special security protocols and traffic control measures have been implemented to safeguard both tourists and local residents during this period. He stated that only family groups would be allowed to access Mall Road, while non-family groups would be restricted from entering the area.
He cautioned that any form of hooliganism, misconduct, or activities that could disturb public peace would not be tolerated. Additionally, a complete ban has been enforced on aerial firing and the open display of weapons. The police will also take strict action against individuals performing wheelies or dangerous stunts.
The DPO appealed to the public and visitors to refrain from fireworks and illegal activities during the Independence Day celebrations. He emphasized that violations of Section 144 would be met with firm action.
Sipra urged everyone to observe Independence Day peacefully and uphold law and order. He reaffirmed that the primary goal of the police is to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and visitors during the celebrations.
