Security alert at mosques, other worship places in Punjab as Ramazan begins

LAHORE: Security has been tightened across Punjab during Ramadan, with mosques and other places of worship placed under high alert.

Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Dr Usman Anwar has ordered increased patrol around mosques, imam bargahs and other sensitive locations. He emphasized that no individual should be allowed to enter places of worship without thorough security checks.

More than 75,000 police officers, personnel and volunteers have been deployed across the province to ensure security. Strict safety measures have been put in place in Lahore and other districts to maintain law and order.

Additionally, Dolphin Squad and Elite Teams have been instructed to conduct effective patrol around mosques and religious sites. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority is continuously monitoring all activities through surveillance cameras.

The Punjab Police chief has directed regional police officers (RPOs), district police officers (DPOs) and other supervisory officers to personally review security arrangements and brief the deployed personnel. He also urged citizens to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure a peaceful Ramazan and tackle threats from disruptive elements.
