QUETTA: At least 67 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed on Tuesday after Pakistani security forces thwarted coordinated cross-border assaults in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.

Coordinated attacks repelled

Speaking about the latest phase of Operation Ghazb lil Haq (Righteous Fury), Tarar said militants launched attacks at 16 locations in northern Balochistan, including Qilla Saifullah, Noshki and Chaman. In addition, Pakistani troops faced fire raids at 25 separate points.

“All attacks were effectively repulsed,” he said, confirming that 27 militants were killed in Balochistan while several others were wounded.

One soldier from FC Balochistan North was killed in action during the clashes, and five others sustained injuries.

Heavy losses in KP

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, militants attacked one security position and carried out firing incidents at 12 different sites. Security forces responded swiftly, killing 40 Afghan Taliban fighters in overnight engagements. No Pakistani casualties were reported in the province, the minister added.

Follow-up clearance operations are underway, and further details are expected later.

Cross-border operation underway

Pakistan’s armed forces launched Operation Ghazb lil Haq in response to what officials described as unprovoked cross-border attacks by the Afghan Taliban. The retaliatory campaign, which began on February 27, involves coordinated air and ground strikes targeting militant positions and infrastructure along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Authorities say the operation has inflicted substantial damage on militant posts and will continue until its objectives are met. Officials have reiterated that the response is measured and aimed at safeguarding civilians while defending national sovereignty.
