ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on less-privileged areas has sought on Thursday the details of loans which were waived off from Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) by using political influence.
The meeting of the committee held with the chair of Muhammad Usman Kakar.
The officials of ADB told the committee that from its inception, 70 years before, the bank and it has been lending loans to peasants and wanted to expand its operation countrywide.
The bank officials apprised the committee over the details of loans, receiving and defaulters.
Directing the issuance of credit to less-privileged areas on low-interest rate summoned the details of lending of loans and interest rate.
Commenting over the letter sent by an officer of the bank, chairman committee becomes provocative and said, “how dare one can issue the direction to the committee as the violation of parliament tantamount to violation of the constitution.
