Senate session condemns on Khuzdar Incident

ISLAMABAD: Senate session convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan, during the session, prayers were offered for the innocent children who lost their lives in yesterday’s Khuzdar tragedy.

Agenda for the question period was suspended from the proceedings of today’s meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned on Khuzdar incident, calling it “unacceptable,” and urged India to cease its proxy actions.

He emphasized the need for a strategic committee to plan for the future and highlighted that some aspects of the National Action Plan remain unimplemented.

Dar revealed that, Pakistan had opened its borders to 35,000 to 40,000 people, which has contributed to current security challenges.

He assured the House that, the government is handling the situation with utmost seriousness and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace. Dar also expressed pride in participating in the Pakistan-Africa friendship conference, celebrating the historic relations between the two regions.

SENATOR SHERRY REHMAN

Senator Sherry Rehman expressed deep concern over ongoing violence in Pakistan, highlighting the martyrdom of innocent children in Khuzdar and condemning external influences fueling unrest.

She accused India of providing training and weapons to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

Sherry mourned the loss of numerous innocent lives, including that of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and emphasized Pakistan’s history of responding flexibly to acts of aggression. She presented evidence suggesting India’s involvement in terrorism within Pakistani territory but criticized New Delhi for failing to produce concrete proof to substantiate these claims.

She also condemned India’s targeting of civilians, referencing the recent 87-hour conflict where Pakistan responded with military strikes against designated enemy targets. She called for regional stability and urged for international efforts to address the root causes of violence and terrorism affecting Pakistan.

SENATOR FAISAL VAWDA

Senator Faisal Vawda strongly condemned recent Indian attacks on Pakistani children, describing the incident as “despicable” and urging the international community to take notice.

He recalled directives from Pakistan’s Field Marshal that emphasized restraint by not targeting specific Indian objectives, yet noted that Pakistani forces had crossed into Indian territory in what he termed a retaliatory response.

Vawda highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic successes on the regional stage, asserting that these victories demonstrate the country’s resilience and strategic prowess. However, he emphasized the need for national unity among political parties to bolster the country’s defense capabilities.

In a call to action, the senator proposed increasing Pakistan’s defense budget significantly. He suggested temporarily halting certain development projects to double current military expenditures, arguing that such measures are essential to enhance Pakistan’s military readiness amid ongoing regional tensions.

Vawda urged policymakers to prioritize national security and ensure that Pakistan is adequately prepared to face emerging threats, emphasizing that strengthened defense is crucial for safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and citizens.
