Senate’s Standing Committee Recommends To Resolve ANF Difficulties

ISLAMABAD: Secretary anti drug has denied statement of minister of interior Shaharyar Afridi adding that 70 percents drugs were not being used in education institutes.

A meeting of senate standing committee on anti drugs was held in chair of Senator Shafiq Tareen.

The Chairman committee senator Shafiq Tareen asked that has minister of state on interior’s statement that 70 percent drugs consumed  in educational institutes right.

Negating the minister statement the secretary anti drug held responsible NGO for that. He said that a survey conducted on the issue found only two percent students consumed drugs.

The secretary said that a letter has been written to ministry of religious affairs stressing Ulmahe-Ikram highlighted the menace in sermons teaching people to avoid taking drugs.

The secretary revealed that rehabilitation centers are less in numbers around the country.

The DG ANF Arif Malik said that Pakistan affected country due to Afghanistan adding that the ANF has total 29 police stations and man power of 3000 persons.

Arif Malik told the meeting that friend country donated three helicopters while the previous government refused maintenance saying that those who donated asked them to repair while donating country refused to help in maintenance of the helicopters.

The committee has recommended to resolve difficulties faced by the ANF
