Islamabad: Additional Session Judge Islamabad Zafar Iqbal has declared the arrest of journalist Mohsin Baig by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as illegal while the court also ordered Inspector General (IG) Islamabad to take action against the FIA team who raided the journalist house.
The court also directed to send the court order to IG Islamabad and ordered to take action against SHO.
The local court of Islamabad, Judge Zafar Iqbal heard a petition against illegal arrest of journalist Mohsin Baig by the FIA. The court after hearing arguments from both the side announced the verdict.
The court’s order containing five pages said that the case was registered between 9 am to 9:30 am adding that the journalist house was raided without any search warrant.
Honourable judge Zafar Iqbal directed the police to record a statement of the journalist and take action against the involved on basis of law.
According to the verdict, the FIR of FIA and SHO proves that the raid was conducted illegally adding that those part of the raiding team were not authorized to conducted the raid.
As per the session court decision SHO Margalla lodged a separate case to show his performance instead of registering case against illegal persons and the record shows illegal authority of the SHO.
The Judge ordered to sent the court verdict to IG Islamabad and directed the IG Islamabad to take action against the SHO Margalla.
Earlier, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday (today) morning raided a house of a senior journalist Mohsin Baig and the body arrested the journalist in the raid.
An exchange of heated words also happened on the occasion of his arrest. The FIA team was faced with resistance in the arrest and during which a personnel of FIA also sustained injuries.
FIA has claimed that Mohsin Baig resisted the arrest and opened fire on the team injuring one personnel of FIA.
Following the arrest, Baig’s lawyer filed a petition against the illegal detention of the journalist.
A district court of Islamabad has appointed a bailiff on the arrest of journalist Mohsin Baig while the court has ordered to present the journalist in the court through the bailiff.
The lawyer informed the judge that people in plainclothes came to his (client) house earlier today and took the journalist with them.
The journalist and his family members sought arrest warrants and search warrants from the SP and DS; however, they defied all requests.
The lawyer further added that the officials in plainclothes smashed mobile phones and hit the children at the house, taking Baig with them.
