ISLAMABAD: The Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) announced disciplinary measures against seven officers on Tuesday, citing allegations of corruption, abuse of authority, and negligence.
The punitive actions ranged from firing and demotion to suspension of promotions, as detailed in an official statement, among those dismissed were Inspector Fakhar Abbas, Constable Ghulam Mustafa, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ahsan Miskeen. Inspector Fakhar Abbas and Constable Ghulam Mustafa were terminated for executing an unauthorized raid and engaging in extortion activities. Meanwhile, ASI Ahsan Miskeen was dismissed over accusations of accepting bribe money from a passenger at Sialkot Airport.
In addition, Inspector Fahad Iqbal received a penalty of a two-year suspension from all promotions for approving illegal immigration clearance at Islamabad Airport. Sub-Inspector Kiran Fareed was also barred from promotion for one year on similar grounds.
Furthermore, Sub-Inspector Tanzil Rasool was demoted to the rank of ASI after being found involved in illegal immigration clearance procedures at Karachi Airport. another officer, Sub-Inspector Wasim Ubaid, faced a two-year ban on promotions for assisting with illegal immigration clearance at Sialkot Airport.
DG FIA Riffat Mukhtar emphasized the agency’s commitment to accountability, stating, “Strict adherence to legal and ethical standards is our priority.” She reaffirmed the agency’s stance that corruption and misuse of authority will not be tolerated within FIA, asserting that any officer involved in such misconduct will face strict disciplinary action.
