ISLAMABAD : Security forces have eliminated seven India-backed militants during an intelligence-based operation in Kharan district of Balochistan, security sources said on Sunday.
The operation was carried out in the Lajay area after intelligence indicated the presence of militants there. Seven terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij were killed, while several others sustained injuries.
Security forces also recovered weapons, ammunition and other military equipment from the militants’ hideouts. One motorcycle and two vehicles found at the sites were destroyed during the operation.
According to security sources, the militants were allegedly involved in planning and carrying out extortion, kidnappings, target killings and suicide attacks.
The sources said counterterrorism operations were continuing across the province under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3 to dismantle militant networks and prevent terrorist activities.
The Kharan operation came a day after security forces killed 10 terrorists during an exchange of fire in Khuzdar district. The operation was conducted in the Shor Parod mountainous area following intelligence reports about the presence of militants linked to the Indian proxy Fitna al-Hindustan.
The latest operations come amid continued militant violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A recent Centre for Research and Security Studies report identified the two provinces as Pakistan’s primary violence hotspots during the second quarter of 2026.
According to the report, KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities during the period, with KP recording 475 deaths and Balochistan 265.
KP also registered 151 violent incidents, or 57% of the national total, while Balochistan reported 94 incidents, accounting for 35%.
