RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Friday appeared at Committee Chowk Rawalpindi and made a brief speech to the AML and PTI workers gathered there for the protest meeting and slipped away by dodging police.
As police has launched a crackdown against the AML and PTI workers in Rawalpindi in a bid to restrain them from attending the AML public meeting, Sheikh Rashid, who was hiding to avoid possible arrest by police, arrived at Committee Chowk on a motorcycle to join the protesters. He made a brief speech to the dozens of AML workers gathered there and slipped away in motorcycle by dodging police.
Earlier in the day, the AML chief in his twitter message had resolved to go on with his scheduled public meeting at Marri Road and reach there at any cost.
Sheikh Rashid after his appearance at Committee Chow, addressed the protesters from atop a private TV channel’s DSNG and fled on a motorcycle.
It is to be mentioned here that police has subjected the AML and PTI workers to baton charge to disperse them and arrested many of them. The activists pelted police with stones.
