LAHORE: PTI senior figure and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has been transferred back to Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail following his recent medical treatment.
According to his legal representative, Rana Mudassar Umer, Qureshi was hospitalized last month at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute due to complications related to gallbladder stones. The hospital successfully performed a procedure to remove the stones.
Umer informed the media on Wednesday that Qureshi has now been discharged after his health improved and a series of tests were conducted. The results of these tests are expected to be available within the next 15 days.
Qureshi, who has been involved in multiple cases linked to the incidents of May 9, 2023, has been in detention since August 2023.
In July 2024, he was formally charged by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore in connection with the Shadman police station attack and arson cases. His return to jail follows his recent medical treatment and recovery.
