WEB DESK: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made his highly anticipated Met Gala debut on Monday, May 5th, captivating New York in a striking gold and black ensemble designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
The “BAZIGAR” actor, known for his roles in over 100 films, embraced the event’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with a look that perfectly aligned with his preference for black and white at major events. His outfit was accessorized with multiple gold chains and pendants, notably featuring a prominent sparkling “K.”
Despite his seasoned career, the 59-year-old actor admitted to feeling nervous before the prestigious event, jokingly questioning if he could “run away.”
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee praised Shah Rukh’s presence, emphasizing the importance of his representation for the theme of Black Dandyism. Mukherjee stated, “We wanted to represent Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan, and nobody else.”
The Met Gala, known for its star-studded red carpet on the first Monday in May, explored the history and aesthetic of the sharply tailored dandy, particularly its connection to Black culture.
Shah Rukh Khan was joined by other Bollywood celebrities at the event, including Diljit Dosanjh, Priyanka Chopra, and Kiara Advani. Other notable Indian attendees included Isha Ambani, Manish Malhotra, Natasha Poonawalla, and Mona Patel.
Met Gala, organized by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is considered one of the biggest shows in the world of fashion.
A special feature of this event is that each year it has a different theme, according to which big artists wear unique outfits.
This year’s theme was ‘Super Fine: Tailoring Black Style’.
