Shahabuddin Approaches IHC For Removal of Name from ECL

Islamabad (September 28, 2017): Islamabad High Court has directed the Interior Ministry to submit a reply in a petition filed by former federal Health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin, one of the suspect in ephedrine case, seeking expunging his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Arguing the case before Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani the counsel of Makhdoom Shahbuddin Ilyas Siddiqui said that his client wants to proceed overseas for treatment. He asked the court to issue order to the Interior Ministry to expunge the name of his client form the ECL.

The court later adjourned the hearing till October 13.It may be mentioned here that Makhdoom Shahbuddin and son of former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Ali Musa Gilani who is also one of the accused in the ephedrine case, whose bank accounts were also ordered frozen by the court on September 13, had appeared before the Judge of the Special Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Court Irum Niazi earlier today in the ephedrine case. The counsels of the both Gilani and Shahabuddin closed their arguments today.
