Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif on occasion of the world press freedom day paying homage to journalists and labourers of pens has demanded National Assembly (NA) standing committee on Information and broadcasting to carry out legislation for the protection and immediate conducive environment.
In his statement today, the Opposition leader in the NA, he said that the journalism is a great mission more than the sacred profession adding that the government can’t declare democratic if it lacks independence of journalism while he said that the present situation of the media is a black era like other institutions of the country including economy wherein journalism, truth, difference of opinion have been made grave crime which is condemn-able and dictatorial attitude.
Shahbaz Sharif said that as the fourth pillar of the state media has to play its role with responsibility while journalists did their professional responsibility amicably despite they are supressing against professional unconducive situation and immense financial difficulties. He said that this role of Pakistani media for constitution, democracy and citizen independence will be written with golden words.
The PML-N President said that in every era people of journalism stand for truth and today’s journalists are fulfilling their duties consciously while and the journalists were part of struggle movement of Pakistan.
