LAHORE: Pakistan’s captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi, expressed on Monday that leading the national cricket team is both a significant honor and an immense responsibility, one he is committed to managing with full dedication.
During a pre-series press conference held at Iqbal Stadium, Shaheen also celebrated the return of international cricket to Faisalabad after almost 20 years, a moment he said has brought great enthusiasm to the squad.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has expressed his pride in being appointed as the ODI captain of Pakistan ahead of the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa, which is set to begin on Tuesday at the Iqbal Stadium.
He remarked that the players are energized and hopeful as they prepare for the series, adding that maintaining focus on their individual performances remains key. Shaheen further emphasized that while decisions beyond gameplay are out of their control, their responsibility is to deliver on the field.
He also shared his thoughts on the return of Babar Azam to the team setup, showering praise on the star player. Describing Babar as one of the finest cricketers globally, Shaheen said his presence greatly boosts the team’s morale.
