Shaikh Submits Privilege Motion Over Harassment, Threats

Islamabad (August 3, 2017): Chief of Pakistan Awami League Shaikh Rasheed has submitted a five-point Privilege Motion in National Assembly Secretariat over what he says the harassment and threats posed to his person during the election of the prime minister in the House and afterwards in the lobby and courtyard of the Assembly.

The first complaint that Rasheed laments about is why his speech within the House was not telecast live on state-owned PTV.

In the second point of the Motion Rasheed expresses concerns about his safety because he says that Capt (r) Safdar and Abid Sher Ali hurled open threats to kill him as the proceedings were underway.

Rasheed’s third point is about presence of people, who have no passes in the galleries.

These pass-less people occupying the galleries hurled and obscene words to me and Imran Khan, Rasheed’s says in the point four of the Privilege Motion.

The fifth allegation that Rasheed has leveled is that a conspiracy was being hatched to assault him while coming out of the parliament.

Saying that all of the above incidents took place before the very presence and eyes of the Speaker of National Assembly Rasheed demands stringent action over his privilege motion.
