According to media reports, the singer was facing court proceedings in Spain on charges of alleged tax fraud of 14.5 million euros, The singer was accused of not paying income tax on her income in Spain from 2012 to 2014.But now the singer has settled the matter outside the court.As part of a deal with prosecutors, Shakira has accepted the charges and agreed to pay a €7.3 million fine.
During the first hearing of the case, the judge said that the singer will pay a fine of 7.3 million euros as well as another 4.38 million euros to avoid a 3-year prison sentence, In a statement released by Shakira, the decision was made not for legal reasons, but for personal and emotional reasons.
She said that “I had come to the conclusion that the victory is not worth the cost of losing many years of life.”
