Sharp decline in Water reservoirs observed

Global climatic change has left diverse effects on Pakistan’s water reservoirs and a sharp and alarming decline was witnessed in Terbella, Mangla and Chasma dams.

According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA) sources said that climatic change has declined 17 per cent in water level of various dams and it will fear of down to 25 per cent in future. IRSA said the slash of 17 per cent was decided for Rabi crops, however after sharp decline in water level the new advisory can be issued.

IRSA data showed that the water flown in rivers last year, during the same period, was 96500 cusec that has been decreased to 50000 in current year, however despite sharp down in water lever all the provinces being provided the scheduled provision of water according to their share.
