ISLAMABAD: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Dr. Aasim Yusuf, confirmed receiving a detailed briefing from the medical team attending to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Dr. Yusuf shared that the discussion lasted around 40 minutes and included a request for Dr. Khurram Mirza to join the conversation to ensure a comprehensive exchange of information.
He explained that the doctors provided insights into their duration of care for Imran Khan, details about the diagnosis, and updates on the treatment plan. They also mentioned conducting an examination on him the previous afternoon.
The CMO reported noticeable improvements in Imran Khan’s health, particularly his eye condition, which has shown significant recovery, leading to better vision.
However, Dr. Yusuf clarified that he could neither independently confirm nor challenge the doctors’ assessments, as he has not personally examined Imran Khan or spoken with him. He further noted that even the doctors nominated by the family have not yet had the opportunity to assess his condition firsthand.
Dr. Yusuf suggested that either he or Dr. Faisal Sultan be permitted to meet directly with Imran Khan and recommended that any necessary subsequent treatment be carried out at Shifa International Hospital.
