Anti-Pakistan speech case: SHC grants bail to Khattak, other MQM-P men

Karachi (May 23, 2017): Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted bail to 11 leader and workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) including Gulfaraz Khattak in cases related to facilitating anti-Pakistan and incendiary speech made by disowned MQM founder Altaf Hussain on August 22, 2016.

The SHC granted the bail against furnishing surety of one lakh each.

On Tuesday an SHC bench heard bail application of incarcerated MQM leader Gulfaraz Khattak among 11 other leader and workers.

Gulfaraz, Hassan Alam, Intikhab Haider and others accused appeared before the bench. The counsel of the accused submitted before the court that the allegations against his clients were politically-motivated and baseless. He pleaded the court to order release of his clients on bail.

After hearing arguments of the accused counsel and government law officer the court granted bail to all the accused against furnishing surety bond amount to Rs1,00,000 each.

It is to be mentioned here that yesterday the Sindh High Court had granted bail to top MQM-P leadership including Farooq Satter, Khalid MAqbool Siddiqui and Amir Khan as many as 31 cases including that relating to facilitation of Altaf Hussain’s incendiary speeches.
