Karachi: Sindh High Court ordered to demolish the illegal building , but the team to demolish the illegal building faced resistance by resident people
The team demolishing an illegal building failed to implement the orders of the Sindh High Court, The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) team along with the police, district administration for the mission of demolishing the six-story building in Lyari Khada market , On reaching Lyari the residents of the building strongly resisted and did not allow the operation.
When the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) district administration and police arrived to conduct and operation in Lyari area, the residents locked the gate of the building from inside and didn’t allow anyone to enter the building and started protesting.
During the argument between the police and the residents of the building, the atmosphere became tense and the police took three people into custody and transferred them to the police station.
The residents of the building said that they bought the house with their lifetime savings and will not vacate it under any circumstances. When the building was being built, where were the institutions?
After failure in Lyari, SBCA staff went another place for same purpose but there was also same situation and people resist after which the demolition squad took over the operation. SBCA officials said that it’s the responsibility of the district administration to vacate the buildings.
