Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday rejected appeals of eight jail staff against their sentences by local court over negligence in running away of dangerous prisoners in the central jail Karachi.
All the accused were arrested from the court as they are all on bail while the court also approved appeal of some accused and ordered their release as well.
It is pertinent to mention here local court has sentenced Assitant Superintendent jail, Gulam Murtaza, Abdul Rehman Sheikh including 14 other accused six years each life time imprisonment..
The arrested officers included Assistant Superintendent jail, Gulam Murtaza,, Fahim Anwar, Salik Ayaz, Rehman Sheikh, Abdul Ghafoor, Uroos, Saeed and Mubin.
The SHC also ended articles of anti terrorism from the case
It is pertinent to mention here that on June 17, 2017 Shaikh Mumtaz alias Firoon and Ahmed Khan Arif had runaway from Judicial complex established in the central jail Karachi. The accused were belonged to a defunct origination.
After they fled, Police and rangers conducted a jail search operation, the accused were detained after the search operation.
The runaway accused were succeeded to flee the prison owing to have nexus with the jail officials and their negligence.
