Sheikh Rashid nominated in 13 cases of May 9, court approves bail

Rawalpindi: Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Friday nominated in 13 cases related to May 9 mayhem.

An anti-terrorism court (atc) Rawalpindi Judge Malik Aijaz Asif heard the case against the AML chief Sheikh Rashid and Rashid Shafique.

Sheikh Rashid counsel in his arguments said that a political victimization of his client Sheikh Rashid has not been coming to an end.

To which Malik Aijaz Asif remarked that it seems that your ‘chila’ [a religeous travel for sake of teaching of religion] turned against you.

On this Sheikh Rashid said that he has no any case registered against him in past all the cases are of after the ‘chila’.

The counsel of Sheikh Rashid said that Inspector General Punjab (IG, Punjab) has given in writing to a high court that there is no case registered against Sheikh Rashid in Punjab.

“Now Sheikh Rashid is being involved in the May 9 mayhem cases.” the counsel said.

The court approved interim bails of Shiekh Rashid and Rashid Shafique in four more cases on private assurance till November 18 and joined the cases together.
