ISLAMABAD: Senator Syed Shibli Faraz has written a letter to Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gilani on the issue of appointment of new Chief Election Commissioner, Member Sindh and Balochistan.
In a letter written to the Senate Chairman, Shibli Faraz demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee for the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner.
According to the text of the letter, the term of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja is ending under Article 215. Sikandar Sultan Raja’s term will end on January 26, a parliamentary committee should be formed to fulfill the constitutional requirement under Article 213.
On the other hand, opposition leader National Assembly Umar Ayub also wrote a letter to Speaker National Assembly.
The text of the letter said that under Article 215, Sikandar Sultan Raja’s term is ending on January 26. Under Article 213, a parliamentary committee should be formed for the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner.
