Shiv Sena Demands PM Modi to Ban Burqa

MUMBAI: The Indian extremist Shiv Sena on Wednesday called for a ban on the use of burqa across the country.

“This restriction has been recommended as an emergency measure to ensure the security forces do not encounter difficulties in identifying anybody. People wearing face-masks or burqas could pose a threat to national security,” said the Sena in an editorial in the party mouthpieces, “Saamana” and “Dopahar Ka Saamana”.

He said the country (Sri Lanka) which has just been liberated from the LTTE’s terror is now in the grip of terror like India, and others like the UK, France, New Zealand.

Sri Lanka banned all kinds of the burqa, or any kind of face-covering veil across the island nation as a security measure after eight bombs targeted three churches and three high-end hotels in the country on April 21, leading to the deaths of at least 250 people.
