LAHORE: The appointment of former chief justice of Pakistan Justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui was challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC), here on Saturday.
Making federation of Pakistan and the newly-appointed Governor as respondents, Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffery has filed a petition against the appointment of Siddiqui.
The petitioner took the plea in his petition that the newly-appointed Governor was facing health issues and was not physically fit for the top provincial constitutional office.
He also raised questions over his qualification for the office.
The petitioner pleaded the court to declare the appointment of Siddiqui as Sindh Governor as null and void.
It is to be mentioned here that Justice Siddiqui took oath as Sindh Governor on Friday following the removal of Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who served on the post for the last 14 years.
